Hey thanks for your reply, I have tried all the reinstall things and the rest origin scrip etc heres my mac specs

Can you update to a later version of macOS? I think your Mac Pro may be limited to El Capitan, but it would definitely be worth checking.

Have you checked whether your GPU has any updates available?

Your RAM speed is very low at 800 MHz but that will be due to the age of your Mac Pro. Would be worth looking into the maximum speed you can install for your system to recognise.

Thats the latest version i can run, and thats the highest ram speed. the game used to run fine until the last update. I also have issues with Origin quitting and I get the warning box say that Origin is required to play this game blah blah blah then i have to restart etc.

☹️ Try a new game folder by dragging the Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to the desktop, forcing the game to create a new one. Does it still crash?

yeah it does, still crashes. Also sometimes it just logs me out as a user and then i cant restart Origin because its says " Origin is in use right now etc. " Does EA not have a direct email? I kinda just want a refund? I only started playing agin and brought an expansion and stuff pack.

It used to run fine though, With high graphics settings. When it runs the CPU use is around 10% the memory pressure is practically nil so I don’t believe it’s a hardware issue, it may be old but it’s a powerful machine that more than meets the system requirements, I have seen other people with nividia cards having the same graphics is issues I have, but on iMacs and Mac books.

Yes but you have added two new packs to your game and Seasons significantly adds graphical effects to the game.

Your Mac Pro used to be powerful (they really are superb machines) but you have a 9 year old GPU in there. Apple also stopped using NVIDIA cards around 7/8 years ago so the other Macs you are comparing yours to have similarly old hardware. Can you upgrade the GPU?

Yeah its all very old stuff now. its not worth it to me to get a new GPU just to play the sims hahaha a game thats as old as my GPU! never mind i will try and remove the expansions i guess?

  • @zz6000

That would be a good test, to see if it is the packs that have caused it. I wonder if the RAM speed is also a major factor here? Possibly.

Yeah I think your probably right, hence the low cpu load i guess it can't get the data from ram fast enough aye? never mind. must be time for a new Mac....
