Re: Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

Hi, I have a 2021 IMAC running Sonoma 14.5 with an M1 Chip. I have the latest update of the sims.

i am receiving the Sims Is Already Running Error. I deleted my electronic arts folder and repaired the game but nothing is working.

I started getting this error after removing and adding mods trying to figure out the reason why when I I try to switch to another lot, it will load forever. It only did this when trying to switch families and not going into CAS so I started to remove mods. I removed all my mods and went into the game and even without mods , it was still loading infinitely when I tried to go to another lot.

after I closed it out the last time trying to figure out what’s wrong, that’s when I started to get the error

  • I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Did not work

There is no need to uninstall and reinstall for this error, it is caused by the game not having permission to access the Documents > Electronic Arts folder. See the solution on page 1.

Thanks. Where is your Electronic Arts folder stored, is it in the Documents folder or have you created a symlink to store it on an external drive or some other location?

What does the TS4 Mod Manager have access to? Does it have permission to change files and move them around?

I did create a symlink but I deleted my documents folder completely both the one in documents and the one had in my hard drive and a new one hasn’t been made since I can’t get the game to start. The mod manager has access to my documents folder and removable volumes .

  • I did that after I started getting the sims is still running btw (deleting the electronic arts folder)

  • I figured it out! I had an electronic arts file back from may (which is weird) that was still there (idk how) and that fixed it
