I have a macbook. I've tried everything - clearing the cache, repairing the game, uninstalling the Sims 4, uninstalling the EA app, restarting my computer, letting the problem rest over night. The game refuses to open, I can't even make it to the loading screen. I have no CC or mods.

You rarely ever need to uninstall EA App and the game. Most issues are in the user data folder.
Yeah I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Sims 4 and the EA app itself, desn't work :/ Should I try multiple times?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? This has happened to me a few times, and sometimes that seems to work. Sometimes I completely shut my Mac off, then restart it again, which sometimes fixes it.
