The Sims 4 is already running.  Error code [ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]

I just went to add Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack to my daughter's Mac Book Air.  Doing this through Origin, I went to open Sims 4 after the download was complete.  However, I get a pop-up...

    Unfortunately no, the game is tied to your Origin account not your Mac. We need to try and get this working in your normal Origin account.

    Does your game have permission to access the Documents folder on your Mac? You can check in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Files & Folders, make sure the Sims 4 is selected in the window to the right.

@milidarriulat I created a new user account on Origin. The Sims game is connected to my original user account. Is there a way to allow the new user account to use the game on the original user account?

    @Bluebellflora That seems to have fixed it. After following your instructions, restarting, double checking for updates and fixing problems, the game will now open. No more error code!

    Thank you so much for the help. My daughter will finally get to play her game.
