“displayname registry feild missing”

whenever i load TS4, something about a display name registry pops up. i type in my account user and it says my connection is offline when it isnt. i checked my antivirus and disabled it which that isnt the case. i factory reset my pc, repaired TS4 6 times, got rid of all my mods and i cant find an explantion please help ASAP !!

  • barrub24yanv  As a test, please disable your antivirus, temporarily, clear the EA App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair the game: open your game library, click Sims 4, and select Manage > Repair.

If that doesn't help, try uninstalling the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstalling it.  Run it as an admin: right-click the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."

If that doesn't help either, can you try a different network?  For example, if your computer has wifi, you could set your phone as a mobile hotspot, using data rather than your home network, and connect to that.  It shouldn't eat up much data to simply connect to the App and launch Sims 4.

puzzlezaddict ive already done all of this ,, i cant disable the antivirus because its the one that comes with the laptop through settings ,, ive repaired it 5 times and factory reset my pc and it wont work . ive tried to run my laptop of my hotspot and it dosent even open EA up

  • barrub24yanv  Try the above (minus disabling Windows Defender) in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account.

wdym admins window account? sorry im not really good with ts when it comes to grtting properly technical

  • barrub24yanv  The only other suggestion I have is to uninstall Sims 4 itself with Revo, which would clean out any leftover registry entries as well.  Before doing so, rename the Sims 4 folder inside Documents > Electronic Arts so that Revo doesn't find it.  This folder contains your saves and other user data and has nothing to do with the game's installed files.

When reinstalling Sims 4, create a new folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.  You'll be able to choose this folder when you reinstall the game.

I would also remove the EA App with Revo, again, just to be thorough.

if this dosent work is there nothing else i can do ?? ive spent alot of money on this game

  • barrub24yanv  I wouldn't say there's nothing you can do, only that I personally am out of ideas for the moment.  I'll keep trying though.  What fixes the problem in the end may be an EA App update, of which there are a lot.  I've seen many problems related to the App that are not solvable from the user side, and while there's always something, the problems themselves keep changing, and so do the users affected.  So it's very possible that this will resolve at some point even if you do nothing.

If you want to be as thorough as possible, use the new admin Windows account, and disable your antivirus when reinstalling the EA App and Sims 4.  Don't reenable it until you've tested the game.
