all of a sudden save file won’t load + Unrecognized Video Card

Platform : PC 

Mods : yes

Game version : most recent update 2025

I've been running sims 4 on this computer for years and today it randomly went from being super leggy, to crashing to freezing after I tried to load into my save file. Now I can't get past the main menu at all. Infinite loading screen.. 

I troubleshooted by pulling all of my mods and cc out -- problem still exists.

I tried to repair the game using a uploaded I use -- problem still exists.

I pulled my entire sims 4 file out, to try a new vanilla save - unrecognized video card pop up.

Can anyone tell me what is happening? Thanks

**I play on a windows pc and the graphics card is AMD : adrenaline edition.

    bstephensonn​  The unrecognized video card error message shows up once per Options.ini file.  When you removed your entire Sims 4 folder, you removed that file too, which is why you're seeing the message again.  Your GPU isn't in the game's database, so it's been unrecognized this whole time unless you took steps to get it recognized at some point.  In that case, please let me know what you did.

    For the rest, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
