Can anyone help me fix this

The game starts off fine but as soon as it gets to the home screen this happens. Please see pictures attached. Anyone know any fix steps I can take. I have no Mods installed. Thanks in advance

  • Carmii95  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just load the game to the Main Menu and see how it looks.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

No matter how many actions/commands I give them to do nothing happens and they just stand there as time goes by not only my sims but the townies as well just stand there. Is there anything I can do to get everything moving again?

Carmii95  Does this happen with your entire Mods folder removed?  (You don't need to save your progress.)  Does it happen on a different lot, and if so, is a new save affected too?

Yes Puzzlezaddict no Mod/CC I took them out for the update. Also when I force travel on my Sim to different lot e.g the gym my Sim and the townies just stand there as time goes by.

Carmii95  Then please test a different household in this save (switch via Manage Worlds), and test a new save too, for comparison's sake.

If the new save is also affected, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • Carmii95  Did a new save in a clean folder help?  I ask because I don't see any errors or other issues in your dxdiag that would explain what you're seeing.  The EA App is crashing, but that doesn't typically cause this kind of problem.  Still, you can uninstall the EA App and reinstall it to see whether it helps.

I'm not saying you need to abandon your current save, only that this is a useful test to narrow down the source of the problem.  There's no point in troubleshooting a potential system issue if the problem is limited to one save, or vice versa.

If you did try the clean folder, please confirm that your old data isn't in the new folder now.  For example, OneDrive could be storing a copy of your old data, and it could download the files after you remove them.
