What troubleshooting steps had you undertaken if any?

Had you made sure that Origin & The Sims 4 were added to your firewall & antivirus's white lists? 🙂

  • Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have tried shutting down the game, and Origin, then disabling the firewall and antivirus, restarting the game and Origin. This has had no effect.

I have double checked and Origin and The SIms 4 appears on my firewall whitelist.

I am based in South Africa, could there be a problem between my ISP and your server ( I had a similar problem with Guild Wars 2 a few years ago.) How would I go about testing that if it was possible?

Thanks for your assistance thus far.

@Diamond_Llama which ISP are you using?

I've never personally experienced any issues with the gallery (I'm South African). Do you have other games in Origin that have online services? Do those work?

EDIT to add: just tested, it does work for me. Could you perhaps try running Origin as admin ( Right-click on the Origin icon on your desktop and choose run as administrator ) as well as are you running the Beta version? No idea if it makes a difference, but I suppose it's worth a shot

Try following the steps given in that user's post on the Sims forums: 🙂

    Spoiler

    1. Started up game for the first time, received "You are offline" message and tried connecting, got "Attempting to Connect" indefinitely when accessing the gallery. Googled, found this post.
    2. I figured I'd just open up all ports to the particular app in Windows Firewall (It's a bad idea to turn off your firewall entirely). In the start menu, type "firewall," and the much easier option of "Allow a program through Windows Firewall" comes up. Select that.
    3. Scroll down to "The Sims 4." For whatever reason, "The Sims 4" was disabled on Home/Work (Private) networks, and enabled for Public. As my home connection is set as a trusted, private network, this was preventing it from connecting. Click "Change Settings" at the top of the window and add that check in the box. I have no idea why it defaulted to Off.
    4. Hit Okay, exit Sims 4, restart Sims 4. (Ticking the box did not open everything up immediately, so when in doubt, restart.)
    5. It connected automatically for me once it saw the connection available.

    I hope that helps someone.
