Cannot Download Sims 4 on EA APP because it's managed by steam now.

Hello,

I'm gonna be honest here, but I am absolutely angry at this.

I bought The Sims 2 Legacy Edition on Steam a while ago, which FORCED Sims 4 and a Sims 4 Pack into my library. I never wanted it, I only wanted The Sims 2. Back then I didn't really care about it, I just didn't install The Sims 4 and hid it from my library.

Sims 4 is my least favorite Version of the game, but I do like to come back to it sometimes. Now, I was trying to install it thru EA APP because that's where I bought some of the packs before and I just prefer to play Sims 4 on EA APP for a reason. But I cannot install anything, not even the base game itself because everything is now managed by Steam? I never connected my steam account to EA and I never installed Sims 4 thru Steam.

I tried to delete Sims 4 and the invasive Pack thru Steam support but that would mean it will ALSO get rid of my Sims 2 Legacy Edition which I do no want.

Excuse my passive aggressiveness but this completely locked me out of playing the game how I want to play it. What can I do against it?

As you can see, it worked for DLC for someone else.  I don't have a Steam install and so can't test myself.

By the way, are you absolutely sure your EA and Steam accounts aren't linked?  You can check on ea.com, under Account Settings > Connected Accounts.  It seems impossible that the EA App would "know" you own any Sims 4 content in Steam without this connection, but it's at least plausible, given how pushy these apps can be, that you linked the accounts without realizing what you were agreeing to at some point.

Anyway, if you can remove the Sims 4 content from your Steam library, do so and then clear the EA App's cache, as described here:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If you can't remove the content, can you unlink your EA and Steam accounts?  If so, and it doesn't bother you to do it, unlink them and clear the App's cache, then see whether you can install Sims 4.
