Can't get into sims 4 household inventory

I built a house with mods and expansion objects before moving my sim household in. However, I cannot access the family inventory because it is stuck in free build mode. I tried cleaning the mods, repairing the game, turning off all the cheats (not using any at all), and moving to another new household to see if any method will fix the problem. Surprisingly enough, a basegame household has the same problem as well. None of the things I did does the trick. Please help as I'd really like to see what rewards I got from the achievements.

  • Hi @AraynaH

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Thank you for your solution! After putting the mods back folder by folder, I found out that I unknowingly installed an always free build mod in the past. There was no mod conflict coming from that one when I was scanning the game, so that's why I didn't realize the issue.

    Hi @AraynaH

I'm glad to hear you found the culprit

I assume you used a mod conflict detector. Be aware that those only find conflicts with other mods, not incompatibility with the game itself.
