CC and Mods Disappeard

Before I updated my game i created a copy of my sims 4 folder to my desktop as a back up and moved my tray, saves and mods folders from the main electronic arts/sims 4 location to my desktop. This is the location I was working from: C:\Users\corwi\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. I noticed I've been working from this location for a while now unknowingly.

I updated the game and when I went to put all 3 folders back in the main sims 4 folder but before I did, I checked my mods folder and noticed a good amount of cc and some mods were missing. Not sure where they all went. I then went to game options and checked the sims 4 folder location and it is the same as above.

I checked this pathway:

C:\Users\corwi\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and its basically empty.

I also logged in to my one drive and checked my sims 4 folder there- the cc/mods/logs say they were last modified 4/18/26 or older.

I also checked my recycling bin and nothing. Where can I find these files, are they able to be recovered somehow?  Please let me know if you need any more information or screenshots

⚙️[PC] Sims 4 Missing User Content (saves, mods, etc.) | EA Forums - 12636780

You could search for individual mod file names if you remember some, although you'd have to get at least part of the name exactly right—the asterisk means "anything can go here," so you don't need the entire name on either side.  Or you could search for Mods folders and see if another one turns up.

Other than that, you're unfortunately stuck redownloading your content.

  • CRW1185  Did you check the recycle bin on onedrive.com?  Sometimes files get dumped there.  And did you check the Sims 4 folder on your desktop, or only the Mods folder you moved there separately?

What I think may have happened is that with OneDrive involved, the moving and resyncing process broke for some reason, and some of your files were deleted instead of being moved as they should have been.  By default, OneDrive syncs both the Documents and Desktop folders, and from your description, you'd have had two copies of your Mods folder, one directly on the desktop and one inside the Sims 4 folder that you'd moved to the desktop.  OneDrive may have deleted the duplicates, especially if it was low on space (with your having copied the entire Sims 4 folder), which would make sense.  But maybe it deleted one copy and was simultaneously unable to sync the other.  This is just speculation, but it at least gives you an idea of how the process might have gone wrong.

The bottom line is, if the files aren't anywhere on your computer and not stored in the cloud, they're gone.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I did check one drive's recycling bin and it was empty =/
