consistent crashing

hi!! my game has been crashing ever since i installed enchanted by nature, and i was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me get to the bottom of it?

i've tested a few different saves, sometimes i took some mods out and sometimes i took all mods out and it still crashed. there's no real rhyme or reason to the crashes, every time it happens my sims are doing something different. i'm attaching all the crash reports i have right now, in case having  multiple helps? i do keep getting exceptions, but they never happen soon before or with a crash, but i can upload them if it might help!

yeah if the cpu issue has been around for a year i've never encountered it, my game only crashes when i have mods installed. i let a completely clean save run in from a fresh /documents/electronic arts/the sims 4 folder again and it ran for over an hour without issue, but as soon as i started testing with mods again the crashing started back up.

i think i might have isolated the mod/mods responsible but i haven't tested a fresh save without it yet cuz at this point im a little discouraged and dont wanna get my hopes up again :\

    edit: nope, just crashed again.

  • jassibhappi  I'd need a lastcrash with your Mods folder removed anyway.  If you still need help, please remove the folder and test again, and then try to attach the new lastcrash.  You'd need to delete its first line of text before the site would accept it.  Please also post a dxdiag.

I do want to note that your issue is different, in that the OP is only seeing crashing in the new world, which has been reported with some frequency.  Crashing in other worlds is probably not related to the new EP, although it could be; you could always disable the expansion and test in a new save if you're curious.

  • 413jmee  Sorry for the late reply.  Let me know if you get any other crashes.  The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag look like an issue related to high-end Intel CPUs that the motherboard can overclock by default, but that issue is independent of mods and custom content and has been around for a year.  So if your game is stable with no mods or cc and/or in other worlds, it's unrelated.

  • It just happened again and I've attached the crash file. Pretty consistently, I can save about twice while I'm building and then the game crashes on the third save.

I'm not seeing the attachments that I add to my posts when I hit enter. I'm clicking the paperclip icon at the bottom and selecting the lastCrash file and pressing "Update". Am I missing a step?

  • I came on here to report the exact same. My game has been basically unplayable since the Enchanted by Nature update. I use a lot of mods, but they're all regularly monitored and updated using the Mod Manager, Scarlet's Mod List, etc and even when a mod is causing issues with my game, the game doesn't typically crash at all, so I'm wondering if anyone else has been having this happen since updating the game. Lately my game has been crashing while I'm trying to save, which is the single most infuriating moment for it to happen. It's worth noting that I don't have the new pack at all and I'm currently attempting to build a residential rental in San Myshuno.

completely mod and cc free after the repair/fresh "the sims 4" folder i think it was fine? i definitely got a lot farther than i've been getting when playing with with my mods and cc, so im thinking the problem might lie in my cc folder? either that or the problem is being exacerbated by my cc, so im gonna do the same clean-folder test again, and then again but with only cc installed.

  •  The problem seems to be linked with Innisgreen and Sprucederry Grove, as that is the neighbourhood I have been playing in the most (it's where my sim family currently lives) and I have been experiencing all of my CTD while trying to play the game in that world.

I can play for hours on other lots and neighbourhoods, but the moment I try to play for more than half an hour in Sprucederry Grove, it becomes a real gamble if I can play for more than an hour before it just out of nowhere crashes. As a precaution, I have started to save my game in 20-minute intervals.

This CTD issue seems to be linked directly with live mode, as I can also leave my game idling/paused for over an hour of IRL time or spend the same amount of time in CaS and B/B Mode without the game crashing.

I am having this issue both with and without mods, so I am 100% confident there is a coding error/bug with Sprucederry Grove, which is causing the game to error out and crash with no warning.

i think i removed the right line of text but just in case i'll upload everything to google drive and link that here too

so far i've only been playing in the new world, innisgreen. i think all of my crashes happened in sprucederry (only visited gringle's) and everdew (only visited the starsong lounge and the watering hole, both had crashes). the only lot i visited in the coast of adhmoor was 1 mari shores and i don't think i had any crashes there. the crashes have happened on ea-made lots and also lots i built but i haven't spent time on  any completely bulldozed lots besides 1 mari, but even after i built on it it didn't crash.

since posting, in attempt to troubleshoot myself, i started a completely brand new save after moving my entire "the sims 4" folder to my desktop and opening the game to generate a new one and repairing the game, the only things i moved in from the old "the sims 4" folder were my cc folder, MCCC, my screenshots folder, my tray folder, and my options file and just now had another crash in that new save. gonna try the same steps again but with absolutely nothing moved over at all just to see what happens.

  • 413jmee  I can't see the crash reports.  If you want to include them, please try again, but this time, open the files and delete their first line of text.

Please also let me know what lots you're playing on, in what worlds, and whether the game runs better on a default EA-made or blank lot in one of the base game worlds.

I'd like to see a dxdiag from this computer as well.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
