COTTAGE LIVING - game data incomplete and now stuck on blue loading screen

I've been playing the sims since like.. sims 2 and I have never experienced as many issues as I have with the sims 4. The new cottage living pack specifically has broken my game permanently. First, I couldn't download the EP, then when it finally said it downloaded and launched I kept getting the game data incomplete error... which meant my game wasn't reading content (such as EP's from previous saves) and my sims were bald and naked. I updated all of my mods and cc and tried everything to no avail. I contacted EA live chat and their lack of knowledge was really frustrating. I removed my mods and everything and the error was not resolved. They told me to just delete the entire game and re-install it. All four years of work... so I did. Now my game will not launch at all. It's stuck on the second loading screen after the sims 4 one... the darker blue loading screen. I'm frustrated and I've tried everything. I just put back my mods and cc after updating them and it just simply doesn't load. I'm at a loss and really annoyed that a game I spent over $500 is not unplayable after paying $40 for an EP I won't be able to play.

  • @Trishabbbb  Please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no contentn.  (Your saves and other content will be in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If the game freezes again, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

If you can play a new save, try copying one of your saves from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  (They're in the saves subfolder, naturally.)  Your sims will of course be missing all their custom content, but leave that for now; just see whether the save loads at all.

About the missing cc: if you saved while the cc wasn't loading in-game, for whatever reason it wasn't, then you'll need to either reassign the items or restore a backup save.  If the issue was actually that one of your packs didn't load, removing its content, the same principle applies.  But you can worry about that once your game is working again.
