Crashing and closing

My game has been unplayable! I can’t even play my game for 5 minutes without it closing on me unexpectedly. I could be putting my cheat codes in or about to move my sims around my game will close and take me back to the EA App.

now my game wont even load - I can’t see the resume game or load game screen it’s just stuck on a loading screen. I’ve spent hours doing everything possible to fix my game no luck.

Any feedback or help would be appreciated

Hey tiesewllms, that's pretty odd. Are you using any Mods or CC?
If yes, please make sure to uninstall all of those at the moment.

As a first troubleshooting step, I always recommend backing up the Sims 4 folder and resetting the game.
If that didn't work, you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

As best practice, another good thing to do is to perform a clean install of your graphics drivers.
When you install those, you should have an option to do a complete/custom installation, and then you should be able to select the option for a clean install! It might vary depending on the graphics card manufacturer.

I'll also leave two useful guides that might help you fix the issue:
Troubleshoot PC, PlayStation, and Xbox crashing or freezing, & Games that won't download, install, or load in the EA app

Keep us posted and let us know if the issue still persists!

  • i have the same issue, i added nothing new to my game and it was working fine before but today it crashes every 2-5 minutes after opening it. i updated my drivers and tried to run it without mods and ran into the same issue. is it an ea app problem perhaps?

  • tiesewllms LilSmallPotato  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

EA_Garrus  Suggesting a clean install of the graphics driver or drivers without knowing what driver(s) might be installed could put a user in a bad position.  Many laptops have proprietary drivers and also software that blocks the more generic drivers from GPU manufacturers.  Plus, a true "clean uninstall" involves removing the old driver, as with DDU, rather than using the less-thorough "perform a clean install" option in the driver's installer.
