Crashing in CAS

I'm trying to create a new save on the Sims 4, and whenever I start creating a sim, the game crashes after a few minutes in the CAS menu. I've already uninstalled all mods I had previously, sims 4 itself, the EA app itself, the EA folder in my documents, and any leftover folder in Steam an the game still crashes a few minutes in customizing my sim

After updating my bios, it seems like everything is functional. Was able to fully make a sim without crashing

  • DamjeI  This error isn't useful on its own, unfortunately: it just says Sims 4 crashed because it crashed, because it did something that wasn't allowed.  Was this the only type of error you saw?  I don't mean only that TS4_x64.exe was the faulting application but that the faulting module and exception code were the same as well.  I'm particularly wondering whether you see any python37_x64.dll errors, which are indicative of a particular problem with overclocked high-end Intel processors.

Please also look for a BIOS update for your motherboard, and install it if you find one.  I believe your current BIOS is somewhat old based on the version number, although I can't check for newer ones without knowing what board you have, and the dxdiag doesn't list the model.  If you don't know, you can look at the board itself, then google "[model] drivers" and check the Asus download page you find.  Your current BIOS version is 0402, and like I said, that's probably outdated by now.

  • DamjeI  Thanks for the dxdiag, but it somehow doesn't show any errors.  Do you use a cleaner app of some kind, one that deletes temporary files?  If so, please remove it or at least disable it for now—the Windows error reports at least are important troubleshooting info.

Speaking of which, please please look for errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for errors that happened at exactly the time of your most recent two or three Sims 4 crashes.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  The Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away, so you might not see a very new error, but you can check back in an hour or so.
