I have tried all the fixes I could find, finally did a full reinstall of just base game, I still get the error "Unable to start: Cannot start because required game data is missing or damaged. Please try reinstalling the game."
I never had mods installed, completely removed/uninstalled all EA content. Fresh install.
At this point I just want a refund of the money I wasted yesterday, I really wanted to play Sims 4 again, have not played in years and now cant.
Also this is a fairly new pc, all drivers and windows updated to latest versions. Please help if you know a fix or how to get refund. thank you

Here is what fixed it.
Go to Documents > Electronic Arts You'll see a folder here called The Sims 4 Right click and rename this folder to The Sims 4 Old Once done. Launch the game. Reach the main menu and exit the game. Now go back to Documents > Electronic Arts You'll see 2 folders here. The Sims 4 Old and a newly created The Sims 4 folder. Go to the Old folder. Copy 2 folders here: Saves & Tray. Paste and replace them in The Sims 4 folder (Newly created one) Once done. Launch the game. Game should work properly with their progress.
