DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION

hey hey,

so my pc keeps crashing since yesterday, that happens as soon as I'm in the sims 4 for a few minutes. after it crashes I get a light blue screen. it says that I have a problem with my device and that it needs to be restarted. at the bottom of the screen it says (the error, I think); 'DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION'.

how I know that this is because of the sims is because I have playtested multiple other games on my computer and I can just go in nonstop without it crashing after less than 5 minutes.

I haven't done anything weird or downloaded anything that I can think of that could be the cause, except downloading the sims 1 from the ea app. like almost everyone has done I think.

I would like to hear what I can do, and also if I can provide further information to fix my problem!

Thanks in advance

(i play on PC, I do have mods but they are all up to date)

  • arithescam  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also provide crash dumps from these BlueScreens.  Open C:\Windows\Minidump, right-click the most recent three files and select Copy, and right-click your desktop and select Paste.  Zip the files together, upload the .zip to a third-party filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and link it here.  Make sure that anyone with the link can read it.

hello, did my link work or do i need to attach a new one ??

  • arithescam  It worked, but I haven't had time to use my Windows PC to check it.  I use a Mac laptop for daily tasks and take it with me, so I can post on the forums, but it doesn't have any kind of debugger installed.  I will get to your crash dump as soon as I can.
