This has been happening to me for the last several days as well. I try to launch it, and it just... doesn't launch; after a few moments, it simply returns me to the EA app homepage (even if I try launching it from the bin in the C: Drive (pathway This PC > Local Disk C: > Program Files > EA Games > The Sims 4 > Game > Bin). No error messages; it just takes me back to the app homepage. I've tried repairing the app and the game, uninstalling and reinstalling the EA App (including doing so through Revo), running the app as an admin, uninstalling and reinstalling the game itself, and restarting my computer, all to no avail. I also tried these steps (and am including the resulting message):
If this is happening after you uninstalled the App with Revo, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
However, I have, at different times, noticed a couple of things that may or may not be relevant: 1) While attempting to launch the game, even though it doesn't appear in the Processes tab of the Task Manager, it does appear in the Details tab with the UAC virtualization disabled (I did not disable it; it is automatically disabled). 2) When attempting to move my Mods folder or even the Sims 4 folder itself to a different location, I get an error message stating that it can't be moved because a file is open elsewhere/there's a sync error with OneDrive (even though the status column for these folders shows an active status and I have no idea where else the files might be open). Any ideas on what else to do?
