So, what I feared did happen. My computer did a Windows update apparently and closed my Origin. When I tried to open it today, nothing would work. Got the EA app and of course it updated my Sims 4 which I did not want so now I have those buggy wants/fears and other bugs - lovely. It also will not download the Desert Lux kit that they gave away for free - click download on it and nothing happens.
Sims 2 is a huge mess - it shows Double Deluxe version, then when tried to download it - get a zip file and it tries to install the store edition which just fails anyway. Was really annoyed that I seemed to have completely lost my Sims 2 game, but then I tried to run it using the Sims 2 desktop shortcut and it was fine. Can't quite wrap my head around the Sims 2 mess though - very strange.
Sims 3 - as others have reported - the store content is all missing and I have a lot of it so really annoyed about that too.
Have many other games that I had on Origin too, like all the Dragon Age games, that I have not even tried to mess with yet - just hoping they work.
Really not happy about the change over at all as it seems we are losing a lot of gaming that we paid for and/or having to spend a lot of time trying to search for answers to make things work and trying to fix to get our games working again. I don't know why they did away with Origin - everything of mine was fine there. - https://twitter.com/crinrict/status/1603398269589241857?t=9VsLLlzxic0pXPwfhphSlg&s=19

Urgh. I haven't been in game for a whole month or so and this really doesn't make me want to start up origin and deal with the whole mess
way to ruin Simsmas
now I am just worried that there will be games missing and errors to discover
also i already accidentally have two origin accounts since ts4 released where i have all the sims 3 stuff on another account (well minus dragon valley cause even origin did not accept my disc code) so that makes things double confusing
Have you tried logging into Origin while offline/disconnected from the internet?- I found out that its not pushing me to EA App yet thankfully so my Simsmas may yet be saved
(actually there isn't even banner telling me about the app change anymore so thats tad confusing too)
still find this odd timing for forcing such change on people though
would imagine people have other things to do than bug test new apps during holidays - EA_Cade3 years agoCommunity Manager

We are no longer migrating players at this time. You can launch Origin in online mode without being prompted to swap to the EA app until migrations recommence at a later date. - I have been reading about the EA App transition from Origin, and most of what I have read is not good at all. It seems like Simmers are having quite a few issues with it, so I'm very apprehensive to switch.
As I was / am in the process of building a custom save file, I didn't update right away a few patches back, and it saved me from some of the worst game breaking bugs that were introduced between MWS, Werewolves, and HSY. And from what I've been reading, some of the bug fixes in patches & the SDX have worked for some, but not for others, and some have even introduced new bugs. So even though there are features & packs I would like to have, I'm cautious about updating just yet. So as of now, I'm at patch 1.87. I have automatic updates turned off in Origin for exactly this reason.
Here's My Question: I am trying to determine if, other prevalent EA App issues aside, switching to the new app would automatically patch my game? From what I've read, if I switch over, the game will update automatically to the most recent patch, and it is only after that that I can turn off automatic updates again, like in Origin; is that correct? Or has anyone been able to switch over from Origin to the EA App, but was successful in preventing it from updating/patching? - MissLjupka3 years agoSeasoned AceA few days ago I was forced to switch, and after I installed the EA App my game was still not patched (I was 2 Patches behind because I was to lazy to update my Mods). Everything worked fine ingame. I was surprised because I thought that the switch would automatically forcepatch my game. (My settings in origin were "No automatic updates)
But, the main page in the EA App told me that I need to download the basegame. So I wanted to check if it would get fixed if I patch my game, so I patched. It didn't fix the problem, but I think that it is just a visual glitch because ingame everything is fine.
So for me it was possible to change from Origin to EA App without being forced to patch. But I have no idea if it was just luck. All I did was click the switch-button on the banner in the Origin App.
I wish you all the best for your game. :) - @mrs_starkey Thank you for replying! As I also have auto-updates shut off for both Origin & the game itself, I wonder if it would also carry settings over to the new EA App like it seems to have done for you, or if it was just a coincidence? Hopefully a few more people will comment & share their experiences, too, because I wonder if other people had the same experience as you, or if it automatically patched for them.
I have very minimal mods in to set up my Save File - MCCC & a few other small things, like lot traits. I planned on updating them, and adding a few extra when I was done my Save File, but I'm worried I might not get to do it that way if the App is forced. So I appreciate people like you sharing how the EA App transition went for them. - Karababy523 years agoLegend@EA_Cade
Thank you so much for passing along this information, it's a big help in easing my anxiety and the butterflies in my stomach every time I click on Origin. I've been dreading the conversion to the EA App after reading all the problems others have been having with it. Now I can relax and just concentrate on playing my game. Happy Holidays and Happy Simming everyone! <3 "Karababy52;c-18211021" wrote:
