Okay, is anyone else's game unplayable now?

I play the Sims 4 on Windows, and since one of the recent updates these last few months, I am unable to access anything else on my computer without crashing the game.  It's really freaking annoying because I'm used to listening to stuff in the background while I play and occasionally recording funny moments in my gameplay, but now I have to either be in the game with no access to other applications, or have the game shutdown completely.  The only way I could go back to the play style I'm used at this point is to get another PC.  The EA app is always a mess too, and half the time I have to reinstall it when the game crashes.  I've spent so much time and money on the Sims over the years, and the new packs are amazing, I don't want to have to stop playing it.  PLEASE I AM BEGGING FOR HELP, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO CONTINUE PLAYING?

  • sl8sel4i59dp  Does this happen in windowed mode?  What about "windowed fullscreen" (i.e. borderless) mode?  Please test if you haven't already and let me know.

If this does happen in windowed or borderless mode, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
