Game not Installing

It's been a while since I've played but figured I'd hop on again. Tried to download the update but it had some sort of error and wouldn't let it progress. So I cleared the cache but that did nothing to help. So then I uninstalled it and tried to re-install it. Now I'm still getting nowhere with it. It's just constantly spinning at 0%

Any suggestions as to what I should do next to try to be able to install it again?

  • Donix135  Please try uninstalling and reinstalling your 2015-2022 VC++ runtimes.  Open Windows Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall any copy from 2015 or newer.  (Don't touch the versions from 2013 or earlier.)  You can get fresh ones here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions but can skip the ARM version.  Restart after installing the runtimes and before trying to reinstall Sims 4.

I did that with no change. Left it alone for a while and now am retrying and it still has those issues.
I decided to try downloading sims 4 from steam to see if it was something to do with Sims in general or if my computer didn't like sims for some reason, but it's downloading just fine from steam. But all my dlc is on EA App so I'd prefer to be getting it from there.

Also cleared the cache with no change as well. Uninstalling and reinstalling also no change.

If you do want to try again with the EA App, uninstall the game through the App if you haven't already, clear the EA App's cache (again):

Restart your computer, and create a new folder into which you'll (try to) install Sims 4.  The folder should be on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.  The folder can be called whatever you want as long as it's not "The Sims 4."
