Error: Access Is Denied

So I was trying to play The Sims today, and I got this message, and then it closed it entirely.

I redownloaded the game, and it's giving me the same problem. I don't know what is going on; it was working just fine yesterday, but now I can't even get into the loading screen of the game. It doesn't work when I go through Steam, the EA app, or even just clicking it on the desktop. Like literally all i do is click it, this appears, and then it closes itself. Also, before you ask, yes, I did click on other games in Steam, and they're working more than fine. The Sims is the only one with this problem. Like this is my computer and im the only one using it, what do you mean "Access is denied."

  • wait im a bit confused by the last part, you want me to get the drivers from my old laptop and bring them onto my "new" laptop(which is my current laptop)?

  • also how am i supposed to install windows while my computer isn't on? I've never really installed an OS before and this sounds kinda overwhelming

  • Sharkpup65  The idea is to try to perform the Windows install offline, not with the computer off.  Please read the instructions in the guides I linked.

And then the idea is to keep the computer offline, if possible, thereby not allowing Windows to download what it thinks are suitable drivers, because you'll install the correct drivers yourself.  You'd do that by downloading them (but not installing) on the old laptop, then transferring the downloads to the new laptop, via USB, and running the installers.

If you're still not sure what to do, there are plenty of video tutorials out there.  I don't have a particular favorite because I prefer written instructions, but it's easy to find a channel with a lot of subscribers or that's connected to a reputable company and just follow along.  Dell probably has instructions somewhere on its site, but then so do most other laptop manufacturers.
