forever friends event doesn't work

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the Forever Friends event. It says my Sim has to play with a stuffed animal. I let my Sim do that, but somehow it's not registering and I'm not getting the rewards. I've tried everything I can find online. I really want those rewards, but it's not working.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
