Freezing time, sims still move

After the 2/5 update i keep getting issues with my Sims 4 Game. In the middle of the game the time freezes but objects  around still moves (lights turn off/ sims move/ sims still make noise) but i am unable to click on the sims or click to go to another game play. EX: unable to click manage worlds /edit build).  the screen would freeze and the only thing i can do to solve is force close the games.

I have removed my mods, checked if any needed updates. All have been repaired. I have even clicked on the EA page to repair the Sims. I have deleted cache, done restarts and same issue every time i log on. I even started a new save file still have the same issue. As mentioned in the beginning i started getting these issues after the new 2/5 update.

I have a save file that i have used since i first started playing and do not want to lose the progress.

I'm having the same issue, except it doesn't happen on a new save for me. There's been quite a few reports of this exact bug throughout the years, the last time it happened quite often was when Life & Death came out. Hope we can recover our saves! I'll be following this thread to try and sort this out

  • MidnightShades88  Please please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If this doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Sasouie  Since your new save is fine, it appears that something is wrong with the main save.  Try moving your sims to a new lot, either a blank one or a premade EA build (nothing from the Gallery or your own library).  You don't need to save your progress, or you can use "save as" to rename the save so you don't overwrite the original.

Hey thank you for the advice. I took my sims file out and the the new file is running great. Would I just have to get my old save fixed or does this solution mean you abandon the old one?

  • itsdama  This means that something about the old save is broken, but not necessarily the entire save.  The next step is to load your old save and play with your sims on a different lot, either a blank one or a default EA build.  (Don't add anything from the Gallery or your own library.)  If the save runs fine, the problem was on the old lot.  If it doesn't, try emptying your sims' inventories too.  If that doesn't work either, test a different, previously unplayed, household in that same save.

You don't need to save your progress during these tests, or you can use "save as" and rename the save so you don't overwrite your original.  The idea is to narrow down the source of the issue, then address only that and otherwise leave the save intact.

Additionally, if you notice the save freezes at the same sim-time during each test, let me know when that is.  As an example, some players are seeing the game freeze right after midnight, with the cause being MCCC auto-marrying sims.  Disabling that feature gets them through the freeze.  There's an underlying issue with marriages that is not caused by MCCC, but the mod is triggering the error by marrying off sims.
