Frozen screen/cursor

My sims game loads to the home page but freezes. I cannot move the cursor from the center of the screen but music is playing. If I use my touch screen I can hear the application go into what I touch, but my screen or cursor does not follow.

I have already tried to rename my sims file and repair the game in EA. After I did that the screen was black and my cursor was stuck in the center of the screen. I then hit control+esc to go back to my desktop, then re-entered the app where the home page was showing but my cursor was still stuck and music was playing.

  • zbug112  Do you still need help?  If so, please force the game to launch in windowed mode.  Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, use ctrl-F to search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).  Do this with your old Sims 4 folder still removed, so you're testing with no added content.

Same issue, Sims only works without full screen.  but in Window mode it's too small to be enjoyable, What is the issue?

  • sims35555  You could try "windowed fullscreen" (i.e. Borderless) instead.  If that doesn't help, or you don't like the effects, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Hi! So I just tried this and it didn’t work.. it still went to full screen mode :/

  • zbug112  Does Options.ini still list fullscreen as 0 (zero), or did the setting revert?  If it reverted, try imposing the setting again and see what happens.  If it still reverts, do you use any app that is supposed to "optimize" your game settings, or anything along those lines?  It may be interfering here, so please disable or uninstall the app, or at least prevent it from touching Sims 4's settings.

You can also try forcing windowed mode in the App.  Click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -w in the command line box.
