Game Crashing Randomly

My game has been crashing after a few minutes of playing, I can start the game just fine, make a sim, and enter build mode, but like I said, after a few minutes it freezes then crashes out.

I have tried almost everything I have found online. I have uninstalled the EA app. I do not use mods. I have checked my drivers, and my specs. I have tried playing in offline mode. I originally played via Origin but recently moved over to the app.

This is the issue being reported to me, but apparently I am hopeless with this type of stuff. How do I fix this? (P.S I have most of the game and stuff packs, not Life and Death or Lovestruck)

  • CallMeRiddikulus  Thanks for the info, but unfortunately, this crash is an access violation, too generic to be of any help on its own.  Between that and the faulting module being the game itself, this is basically saying Sims 4 crashed because it crashed because it did something [generic] that isn't allowed.

Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • CallMeRiddikulus  One of the Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag lists the Nvidia graphics driver as the faulting module, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

However, a few of the other crashes look like ones related to overclocked high-end Intel processors.  While your CPU isn't an overclockable SKU, perhaps you've played with overclocking anyway or related settings.  If so, please revert everything to stock settings.  Do the same with the GPU if this doesn't help.

Please also update your motherboard's BIOS, if an update is available.  Google the exact board model and "drivers" and look for a BIOS version newer than 1002.  In case it helps, here's an Asus tutorial on how to flash a new BIOS (method 2, the standard devices rather than ARM):

    https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1008276/

If you get another python37_x64.dll error, where you see "faulting module name" in the error you originally posted, boot into BIOS and disable CPU Turbo Boost, which is likely under Advanced settings and may be called something slightly different.  It should have Turbo in the name though.

  • I managed to do the Nvidia graphics driver reinstall, and I'm not the most technically versed so I'll probably ask a family member that is to help with the BIOS things.

It did crash again after the graphics card updates. Thank you for tyring to help though.

  • CallMeRiddikulus  Your newer dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 errors, which could simply mean you haven't played in a little while and other newer errors have accumulated in the interim.  I'd still suggest updating the BIOS, as best practice, but feel free to post any new Reliability Monitor errors you find.
