Game is Crashing in Build Mode

Overall my game has been crashing since I got Enchanted by Nature. Sometimes it also just randomly causes my computer to restart. When this first started, I was playing with mods disabled in a save file I had never used them in but the crashing still happened if I moved my mods folder out completely and started a new save. I have updated my drivers, allowed the app permissions in my antivirus, repaired my game, switched back to Directx9, then back to Directx11 (I have not tried memory boost) when that didn't help and generated a clean user folder. I still experience these issues, mainly the crashing while in build mode.

It can be triggered by trying to load into build mode, changing categories in build mode, scrolling through items in build mode, essentially doing anything in build mode. Sometimes the crash happens after seconds, sometimes it takes over an hour. Can anyone identify something in my last dxdiag that could point to the issue?

  • holger1405 I had been thinking that as well, however the "fixes" weren't consistent, by the end it had started crashing even when I had that software off. The causes of the crashes were inconsistent as well. I know I had stopped updating you for a few weeks, but this was why. I could no longer identify a consistent fix or a consistent cause so I felt like I had nothing to really report,. My new laptop was half the price and runs the game perfectly, even with a ton of mods and cc, on AMD Ryzen 7 6000 (and I have completely abandoned Acer in case those programs were the issue haha). And it actually does run so much smoother, it feels a lot better. I can play freely again without the need to save every 60 seconds in case it crashes. This new laptop also doesn't get as hot, even with less powerful fans. The gamble paid off!

Thanks, I got all the way through the process this time. Here is the message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

I am still experiencing the crashing in build mode unfortunately.

    You restarted the Laptop?
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth can take a wile to start the process.
Please try again and leave it running in the background for a wile.

If that still fails continue at step 9.

holger1405 I did not make it past step 8. It got stuck at 62% when validating. I noticed after about ten minutes of that, that the charger had come unplugged from the laptop. I'm not sure if that caused it to freeze. I tried to start over but it would not start at all after that. Should I just move on with the next steps?

Did you in any way overclocked the CPU or changed CPU settings in the BIOS?

I did have Predator Performance mode turned on for a while when I was troubleshooting the game crashing. I have since switched back to Balanced. I have updated BIOS and the chipset driver and will test for the restart problem.

    It's perfect, actually.

One of the memory dump's displays an error that is probably related to corrupt system files:

    1. Hit Windows key and X at the same time.
    2. Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
    3. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: (You can copy and paste the following bold/cursive text.) DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth
    4. Press ENTER.
    5. If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found repeat steps 1 & 2.
    6. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    7. Press ENTER.
    8. The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
    9. After it reaches 100% repeat steps 1 & 2.
    10. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: sfc /scannow
    11. Press ENTER.
    12. Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

The error in the other memory dump's is more complicated, because it indicates a hardware problem.
Did you in any way overclocked the CPU or changed CPU settings in the BIOS?

Go to the support page of your laptop: https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Predator_PHN16-72
Update to the newest BIOS V1.17.

Then, after you restarted the machine update the chipset driver:

    ChipsetChipset DriverIntel2024/01 /2910.1.46.35.89 MB

Restart the computer and test the system for a wile.

It is possible that the game and the restart problem are unrelated; the above mainly addresses the restart problem.
Please let me know if this helps with the restart problem and if it also helps with the game problem as well.

    1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. In the new Window, type or copy and paste "%Systemroot%\minidump" (Without the quotation marks) > Press ENTER
    3. Zip 2 - 3 dump files together and upload them at a free file hosting service like Dropbox, or you can use your OneDrive "public" folder.
    4. Post the link here.
  • If anyone knows if this issue could be related to that video card message, please let me know! Here is the full message, it only pops up when I first start a clean user folder save: "Your video card is not recognized in our database. We have optimized your graphics settings for improved performance. These changes will take effect after you restart the game. If you experience performance issues, you may need to adjust the settings manually." I have already tried adjusting the settings and it didn't stop the crashes in build mode, but maybe I just didn't adjust them the right way? The game had them as high as they would go and I lowered them. Maybe I didn't go low enough, but this is a new gaming laptop that I had thought would be able to handle any of the settings like my last one did. I'm also wondering if I should try setting memory boost to "Enabled." I think it's still in beta so I've been hesitant to try that.

  • I forgot to add that the game does initially give me the message that it doesn't recognize my video card. I get these crashes using the game's recommended graphics settings as well as when I lower the graphics settings.
