game keeps crashing during the first loading screen after update

I was playing fine three days ago but today I downloaded the update, and the game won’t load past the first loading screen after the title screen. I tried removing Mods and repairing but it doesn’t change anything and still crashes, super frustrating

  • jjunibo  Please remove your saves folder from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and try to load the game.  If it works, create a new save; no need to spend much time on it.  Save your progress, quit, and move your old saves from the old folder to the new one.  Make sure to renumber the newest save, that you just created, if it conflicts with one of your older saves.

Try again to load the game, and if you can get to the Main Menu, use Load Game to select an older save and play it.  If the save is fine, you can continue playing it and save your progress; it may work again going forward.

If removing your saves folder doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Sorry for the late reply, I tried the Saves method and I was able to create a new Save, rename it in the main menu and everything, but when I added my old Save files back in it crashed at the first loading screen again. Hopefully this is the correct dxdiag:

  • jjunibo  I don't see anything obviously wrong in your dxdiag.  The pile of Sims 4 crashes are exactly what we're seeing with the current save issue, for which EA_Cade has asked for saves here:

Crashes on Mainmenu | EA Forums - 12139111

It would be great if you could provide a save as well as a list of the mods and custom content you're using, in that thread that EA is monitoring rather than here.

You can also try adding back your mods and cc, updated versions if necessary, as some players report that this has allowed them to load their affected saves.

Since there's a master bug report that covers your issue, and there's apparently nothing else to be done on the user side at least for the moment, I'll lock this one here.
