My game keeps crashing immediately when doing the above. have tried and tested without CC and have also verified the integrity of the files on steam. Deleted localthumbnailcache etc. I have tried a new save and deleting old one etc as well
I use Nvidia and all drivers updated

Answering my own question, I followed the steps to ensure the game uses NVIDIA rather than system GPU and voila all is now okay
voguelamb I'm glad that helped, but the game should be using the Nvidia GPU automatically. Were you playing on battery rather than plugging in the laptop?
Your dxdiag does show that the game was crashing because the AMD graphics driver was crashing, so it makes perfect sense that forcing the game to use the Nvidia card fixed it.
