Game unsavable. Build mode unusable

I have just updated my game and have been playing for maybe 15 mins. 

I can not enter build mode and I can not save my game, when I hover over either they same 'game loading is in progress.'

Game play outside of that is normal. I have mods downloaded but removed them prior to updating my game. 

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    KaateSavagee​  Just to be clear, you removed the entire Mods folder?  And does this happen if you quit the game and restart?

    If it does, please check your antivirus for recent actions involving Sims 4 or the EA App.  If you find anything, set the relevant exceptions/exclusions and test again.
