I love the sims 4 and play it all the time I also have multiple expansion packs and custom content but, I keep having this problem recently where when I open the game a pop up will always come up and advertise a pack or something else sims 4 related. But when I x out of it my game will not load at all and will just not respond. When this pop up doesn’t happen my game works perfectly fine and runs smoothly any idea on what is causing this?
marinad327 Does this happen with no mods or custom content, as in, when you move the Mods folder to the desktop? That would be the first test. I understand that this is intermittent and therefore difficult to test, but you could try with a clean user folder. The second time you launch, you should get pop-ups for every single pack you own.
To test in a clean folder, move or rename the existing Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. This will prevent the game from reading your existing user data, including saves, mods, and the flag that you've already seen the pack-related pop-ups. When you want to go back to using your content, trash the new Sims 4 folder and restore the original.
Another possible cause, if this turns out not to be mod-related, is an overlay that's running alongside the game. You can disable the Steam and EA App in-game overlays, or just not open Steam if you don't need it to play; Discord comes with an overlay as well.
