I try to play The Sims 4 but it freezes before I get to the main menu even though the music continues to play

  • Hi, everyone.

As the second poster stated, please safely remove any downloaded Mods / Custom Content found within your Mods folder. As you may know, mistakenly downloading Sims 3 and Sims 2 content will break your game and cause it to be unlaunchable/crash. This also applies to outdated/corrupted cc files.

If you have 0 custom content and this problem still persists, please follow these steps:

    1. Save any household saves, that you would like to, and Mods within a safe place outside of your documents (located in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, I believe / or Mods) (In certain cases, the households can be at fault here.)

    2. Go back into your Documents and delete your Electronic Arts folder.

    3. Relaunch Sims 4 from Origin and everything should be good to go.

If this worked and your game loads correctly, please cautiously re-add your Save files and Mod folders. Be prepared to weed through your Mods folder to see which CC broke your game. (A simple way to achieve this quickly is: Organize your CC into New - Recent - Old folders > place New folder in mods, launch game to see if it loads > if it loads, remove that folder and add in the next one, make sure you remember which folders work and which don't > if a folder crashes your game, dissect the folder, order it from newest to oldest, remove the newest cc and start with groups of 2 - 5 old cc files to test in your game. Delete the ones that break your game. Continuously do this from oldest > newest files.)

    Good luck.
