Gaming laptops

What are some laptops specs you recommend for sims 4? I want my stuff on the highest setting

  • ndnvtd8at77z  The most important detail in determining how well a given computer will run Sims 4 is the graphics card.  A laptop RTX 3050 is sufficient for ultra graphics settings, although you might want to consider an RTX 4050 instead if you plan on adding ReShade or a lot of high poly custom content.

Aside from that, 16 GB memory is great to have, although it's not absolutely essential on a gaming laptop, and most gaming laptops have user-upgradable RAM anyway.  512 GB storage is basically standard at this point and is far more space than Sims 4 needs even with a giant pile of custom content.  Any processor paired with a standalone graphics card (RTX 3050 or higher) will be good enough for Sims 4.

If you have specific laptops in mind and would like a second opinion, feel free to post links to the product pages.  And if you'd like recommendations, list your budget and country as well as any other details that matter to you, for example screen size.

I would say my budget is 1800-2000. Not smaller than 15 inch, The Netherlands and those things. Furthermore, nothing really matters, as long as it's from coolblue? :) I appreciate your help a lot 💗🫶 Thank you!

  • ndnvtd8at77z  You certainly don't need to spend 1800€ to get a laptop that will run Sims 4 as well as it's reasonably possible to do.  The game will have slowdowns on any machine, that's the unfortunate reality, but you can make sure it's never the hardware's fault for significantly less.

What do you think of this laptop?  The processor and graphics card are significant overkill for Sims 4, the other hardware is fine, it has a bright, high-quality screen, and it's a high-quality computer overall, especially in the budget to mid-range gaming laptop category.  It's also the cheapest option I found (on this site) with an RTX 4060 that's in the higher-quality category:

If you don't like this one, let me know why so I can look for more suitable options.  You have the budget to get pretty much whatever you want, as long as coolblue sells it, so you can be as picky as you like.

I appreciate you doing this. I like the laptop. If it's possible and it's in my budget, do you maybe have a recommendation for a little bit stronger? I like the gb ram video card thing and the video card, but I don't know about the processor. Also, please know that I do really appreciate this, so thank you 🫶🩷

Just checked the laptop again and if I scroll down completely it says I can upgrade the ssd till 1000gb but nothing more? Maybe I don't understand though

  • ndnvtd8at77z  You don't need a stronger laptop for Sims 4, no matter how much content you pile on, and you won't really see any benefit.  But sure, if you're still looking (and I realize this reply is a bit late, sorry about that), I can make some other suggestions.

You also don't need more than a terabyte of storage, or even nearly that much, for Sims 4.  If you're asking about doing your own upgrade at a later date, you can add whatever drive you want at whatever size you want.  I've seen drives up to 8 TB available to end users (not just businesses), which would of course be wildly unnecessary, but the point is that you wouldn't be constrained on that end.  There's nothing about this laptop, or any other that takes a standard-size drive, that would limit how much storage it could use.  And they all take standard-sized drives if the drives are user-accessible at all.

Hmm okay! I appreciate it, thank you, a lot. Do you have some more recommendations? And also no worries /gen. It's very sweet to help

  • ndnvtd8at77z  This is the same Lenovo Legion Slim, except with an RTX 4070 and a terabyte of storage:

    https://www.coolblue.nl/en/product/948984/lenovo-legion-slim-5-16arp9-83ex0027mh.html

This one has a brighter screen, with the same high resolution, and is a good quality laptop as well:

If you want a very pretty screen—no brighter, no more pixels, but even better colors—this one is essentially the same model laptop (one generation newer, but the same idea) except with an OLED panel:

And again, all of these are wildly excessive for Sims 4, as is the first one I linked.  It's of course your choice whether you want an overpowered laptop; I just want to reiterate that to be totally clear.  You wondered about the processor, but all of these can more than keep up with the graphics card, which would be the limiting factor if Sims 4 didn't have its own limitations.

Graphics power is significantly more expensive than CPU power, at least in this class of computer.  So laptop manufacturers will always pair a GPU with a processor that can match and exceed its capabilities, since no one wants to spend a lot of money on a GPU only to have it held back by the other hardware.  Sims 4 is also not particularly demanding on the processor, at least not by modern standards.
