Infinite Loading Screen

It doesn't matter what I do, anytime I try to start a new game or load in a save I'm stuck in an infinite loading screen. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, creating an entirely new Sims 4 folder, but none of it is working. I use mods, but I've also tried deactivating them and it still refuses to run. Any ideas?

  • You could try and do a system restore if you are on a Windows computer and it would restore your computer and game to the the settings before the last update or whenever it was that your game stopped responding.
Also, you could wait and see maybe it gets fixed when you install the next EP. Just make sure you remove all mods and CC before you install it.

  • drxmrr  When you created an entirely new Sims 4 folder, did you add anything to it before testing?  If not, please try again, this time with nothing added to that folder.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • drxmrr  Your dxdiag lists a number of generic Windows errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Try again to play, and if you get stuck again, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to play Sims 4.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

The message I got after putting in sfc/scannow was: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I updated my Sims 4 to the most recent version, but now I've run into the issue of glitched UI. The boxes aren't where they're supposed to be in the menu screens.
