Laptop advice
Hi all. Currently looking for a new laptop. Main use will be casual playing Sims 4 and Cities Skylines. I currently have a 13” MacBook Pro (8 gb RAM) from 2015 that is reaching the end of its road. R...
@1D5evr For Sims 4, the first laptop would be good enough. In fact, an MX450 isn't really worth the extra price; you could pick a model with an Intel i7-1165G7 or Ryzen 7 5700U and see pretty much the same results from the integrated graphics chip. You wouldn't be looking at ultra settings in either case, at least not with all packs installed, but high settings should be fine.
Cities Skylines is a different story. It's more demanding on both the processor and the graphics card; even a 1650 may not give you the performance you're looking for. I understand that you want a thin and light laptop, but many of them don't have great cooling. So even though their processors are theoretically capable of handling high workloads, in practice, they might not be able to sustain what the game throws at them. I haven't read reviews on either of the laptops you linked, but if you're interested in doing more research, look into cooling benchmarks, particularly ones that mention sustained loads or long tests.
On the other hand, if you don't mind playing CS on lower settings and/or with lower framerates, you may be fine with either laptop.
