Loading screen when first loading the game turns black

When I try to load the game I see the initial loading screen but then it turns black, all I can see is the cursor. I have removed all mods, checked all my graphics drivers are up to date and updated and repaired the game but problem is still happening.

  • Hi Sasha_childe

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

    • Press Windows-Key + R
    • Type: DxDiag
    • Click on Save all Information.
    • Attach the Text File to your post
  • Sasha_childe  The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag are somewhat generic—they can be due to a corrupt save or a bad mod or an issue with the graphics driver, among other causes.  Since you've already removed your mods and custom content, please temporarily remove your saves too (the entire folder) and see whether the game loads.  If it does, the issue is probably your newest save among those you moved.

In that case, you can create a new save, save your progress, quit, and move over your older saves.  If necessary, renumber the new save so it doesn't conflict with the old ones, but be sure to keep the number eight characters long (e.g. Slot_00000012.save or Slot_0000000a.save) so the game can read it.

If removing the saves doesn't help, remove the ConfigOverride folder if there's anything inside.  If that doesn't help either, remove the entire Sims 4 folder.  Your content will be intact but not readable for the moment, which is fine and the point of the test.

If none of this makes a difference, we can move on to other causes.

  • Sasha_childe  Try forcing the game to load in windowed mode, if you haven't already.  Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

If that doesn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver, as described here:

However, rather than using the absolute newest driver from Nvidia, try a slightly older one.  You can find them here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

You'll want a Game Ready Driver, not a Studio version.  Try the one from January 27, since the next one after that was a major update.  This one is still more than new enough to be compatible with Sims 4 and almost anything else you'd run on your computer.
