Most Recent Save is TMP file and cannot change

I saved my game last night around 6:45pm and left my computer. Came back to boot it up today and it is the save from earlier that day, not the most recent save. Checked my Saves folder on my PC and the save from the evening is a tmp file BUT the Name is .save - If I try to rename to change the file type it does nothing. Screenshot is attached.

I've tried to recover saves in the game launcher and it doesn't show up there either.

    @gypsymylena 

    Click View in the menu. Select to view hidden extensions. After this you will be able to remove the .tmp extension.

    Hi, that worked so I can see the file extension, thank you.

    However, when I get to the load screen for the game, this is what I see (Capture.png)

    when I load that save, the lots all have triangles above them and nothing is loading properly. It loads a state of my game that happened years ago (neighborhood.png)

    Is my save unrecoverable?

    Then there is only the option to load the newest save that was saved successfully.
