My sims4 game won't start.

I've been trying to get my sims game to start for around an hour now, I've tried everything now - and probably done more harm than good by changing stuff. But I'm getting very frustrated, I just want to play the sims. Installing the sims3 was much easier.

Origin either, doesn’t start, and when it does, it won’t let me play the sims. I’ve tried getting it to work many different ways. But it won’t open.

Clicking play in origin itself results in nothing.

Clicking open on the sims itself results in nothing.

Clicking run as administrator results in nothing.

I really need help, anyone?

    No this doesnt fix the fact that i paid $80 for a game that I wasted 3 days on and lost because now I have to reinstall... I hate EA!

    Mine still won't launch either. I tried all the suggestions and nothing works. When I take the whole sims 4 folder out of my origin games file the game cover goes back to normal but says install. Then when I put the file back it returns to grey. Along with origin not starting or responding at all. I paid $64 for this game and expect it to work like all the rest. Please help me.

    <SOLVED>

    All you have to do is a CLEAN BOOT:

    1) START

    2) type msconfig then enter

    3) selective start in general tab

    4) service tab - hide microsoft service - disable all

    5) ok then restart

    6) after restarting open origin click on the sims4 and it work now.

    Anyway i think it is a great waste of time doing this to play with an ORIGINAL game. Hope EA fix this problem soon.

    thanks lesliem25. this worked for me.

    however - instead of "go into the electronic arts folder" - which is a folder i didnt seem to have ( using win8 if that matters) i went to my origin games folder then followed the rest of the steps and my game started. it was still greyed out on origin but was started from the ts4 icon. was able to pickup right from where i left off before whatevertf happened. saved game intact. havent turned it off all day so idk what to expect when starting again. hopefully not having to repeat this process. no one should have this much trouble with a brand new PURCHASED game but again thanks for the info.

    for those avoiding the "install", it only took a sec. it doesnt re-install the entire game from scratch it only reinstalls whatever took only a few seconds. lol

    i still have no idea why this happened in my game and still have no idea if origin or my game is updated. i do know that all mods i had installed were gone.

    for those knowledgeable about mods can they simply be re installed? i had less than 10 but they were some cool shirts that id like to have again.

    I tried those steps and instead of reinstalling, it asks me to redownload the entire 8gb+ just because of a missin TS4.exe

    Did the clean boot multiple times and still doesn't work. But I removed the sims 4 folder from my origin games folder or if it would be in your EA folder drag it to the desktop click install on the game in origins and then place the sims 4 folder back where it was. And keep the file window open so you don't lose your spot with placing the sims folder back. This worked for me.

    My game opens, but when it does, I only hear the music playing, and the sound effects? The whole screen is black, please help! ☹️
