OneDrive issues

I doubt this will get much traction here, and I doubt I can get much info since it's an issue where OneDrive is likely the one at fault. But it's worth a shot, right?

My computer's harddrive failed. I backed up all my files onto OneDrive, so I could redownload everything once my laptop was fixed. I got my laptop fixed and redownloaded everything, except all my Sims stuff was gone.

Every single file was missing. The game itself works fine since I reinstalled it. But One Drive didn't save a single one of my Sims files from MyDocuments. (It saved some old files I kept on my desktop but that's not important.) The folders themselves (Saves, mods, my mod subfolders) are there, but they're all empty. Searching filenames and .package aren't pulling anything up.

On top of that, I saved a copy on a USB just in case. But the USB malfunctioned, so I can't use it either.

Is it possible the files are hiding somewhere on OneDrive? I don't know how they could have saved all the folders, but everything inside them is missing.

  • Karamazov123  OneDrive is unfortunately not as reliable as it could be, and definitely not enough to trust it as a backup.  I don't know exactly how this would have happened, but two possibilities are you're low on cloud storage, and OneDrive deleted older files; and the syncing process itself was interrupted or otherwise didn't go through.  Did you ever see your saves in OneDrive after syncing and before they disappeared?  If not, I'd go with an interrupted or compromised sync, but there's no way to tell.

The only other location in OneDrive where your saves might be is the Recycle Bin, if you haven't looked there already.  But that assumes the data made it to cloud storage in the first place.
