pc advice appreciated

hi, apologies if this post is out of the norm on these forums but no harm in asking!

i'm from the uk & i'm wondering if the pc info listed below is a good prebuilt for running the sims 4 on highest graphical settings, with all dlc installed and mods. i'm open to other suggestions and/or advice.

Vibox V-243 Gaming PC • AMD Ryzen 5 5500 4.2GHz • Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti 8GB • 16GB RAM • 1TB SSD • Windows 11 • WiFi

thanks for any help in advance :-)

  • lannahhowe  This system is overkill for Sims 4, not that that's a bad thing.  If you wanted to save some money and weren't going to need the extra power for anything else, you could drop all the way down to a desktop RTX 3050 for the graphics card.

The 3050 is still capable of running the game on ultra graphics settings, with plenty of room to spare.  If you piled on the high poly custom content and added ReShade or similar, you might start to notice some slowdowns, but you might not, depending on what content you were using.

The desktop RTX 4060 is a lot faster than the 3050, so much so that Sims 4 can't use all its power, even with lots of third-party content.  So it's a good compromise if you want to save some money but would like some extra power to play with.

As for specific suggestions, I can have a look around.  Please list your budget in that case.

I did find this system with an RTX 4060 for someone recently, in case you'd like to compare:

The processor is a bit slower but still more than sufficient, and it only has 500 GB storage instead of a full terabyte.  But that's still more than enough for Sims 4 and a giant pile of custom content.

thanks for your help, this info is awesome!

i'm okay to pay a bit extra, i'd say my max budget would be around £900. my current pc runs sims 4 pretty well but as u mentioned wasn't able to handle reshade without it becoming slow hence why i'd like to upgrade :-)

i'll take a look at that one you linked. if you have any other suggestions that are similar i'd love to check them out too for comparison. if not, you've already helped me out a bunch & i appreciate it.

  • lannahhowe  This model is worth mentioning:

    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-gaming-mach-1-ryzen-5600-rtx-4060-pre-built-gaming-pc-fs-pb06-ep.html

It also only has an RTX 4060, but its processor is somewhat better than the one in the Cyberpower build, and it has a terabyte of storage if that matters to you.  The build quality is high—this company makes custom builds and sells some prebuilt models with the leftover components—and the warranty is long.

If that build quality appeals to you, but you want extra power, this one could be configured with an RTX 4060 ti for a little over £900, and upgrading the CPU would push it a little higher (+£27) but isn't strictly necessary:

    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-gaming-kalis-amd-ryzen-5-5500-geforce-rtx-4060-gaming-pc-fs-1ft-og.html

The "best" option really depends on your priorities.  All I would say is try to avoid a prebuilt model from Dell or HP, both of which use proprietary components that are hard to source if you needed to repair or upgrade; and avoid sketchy third-party sellers on Amazon or similar that have bad reviews.
