Permissions error during repair

When I try to load game, a box comes up that says it can't find the folder, so then it wants to run a repair.

the repair pauses itself saying there is a permission error. I have opened the ea app and have selected run as administrator. I have shut down and restarted computer several times. Other suggestions?

The same thing happened to me! Super frustrating! Hoping someone responds with how to fix this.

  • sppnz Joelbrei  This is typically due to an overactive antivirus, so try setting an exception in yours for EADesktop.exe.  Set exceptions for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64 as well; or the entire Bin folder they're in.

If this doesn't help, disable the antivirus, temporarily, and try to repair again.

paqem  Switching to DirectX 9 doesn't fix repair issues, and it also shouldn't be necessary on systems that can run the DirectX 11 version of Sims 4.

What happens is I try to open sims4, a box pops up saying it can't find file specified, then suggests a repair. I start repair, it pauses itself and says permission errot

  • sppnz  Please temporarily disable your antivirus, then try to repair again.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and you can reenable the AV as soon as you've tested Sims 4, if you get that far.

If this doesn't help, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the game, choosing a newly-created folder for Sims 4.  The folder should be on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.

My husband suggested doing restart after closing ea app rather then shut down and turn back on. repair finished for once. hopefully game loads
