Possible corruption

Hello, I will try to explain my situation as best as I can. I own all expansion packs, all game packs and all stuff packs, and I do use mods. I last played the game on April 2nd, I experienced no issues, no lag and no weird bugs. Cut to April 4th where I try to play the game again- the game will not open at all and would immediately crash on startup. Initially I thought it was Steam or the EA app being odd, so I uninstalled the EA app and nothing changed. I uninstalled the Sims itself and nothing changed. I took out every single mod and tried to run the game, but it still wouldn't open even without mods. Fearing the worst, I removed all of my save files and ran the game again, unfortunately it opened. I put my save files back in and the game went right back to crashing on startup. The game will open without my save files + mods perfectly fine, so does that indicate my save files are corrupted? If so, is there anyway to possibly recover them or fix them?

  • I also have the same issue and went through all the auto-backup saves. All of them crashed the game. Is there any way to repair the corrupted save files?

  • simsofthedevil  Can you load a different household in the same save, and if so, how long can you play before the game crashes?  If the other household is fine, try loading your main one again after at least a few sim-hours and let me know how it goes.

If you can't load any household in your main save, even ones you haven't played before, please confirm that you can play a new save without any issues.  If the new save crashes too, I'd like to see a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
