Re: Can i play Sims 4

Hello @ynk225,

the laptop fulfils the games' minimum requirements and should therefore be able to run Sims 4. The graphics card is not out of the world and just a little bit above the minimum requirements, so it might be best to not run it on the highest graphic settings that the game allows, as to not strain the laptop.

    @ynk225,

    yes, the AMD Ryzen 5 5625U is a bit better than the Intel Core i7-1165G7 that comes with the laptop.

  • @ynk225 @EA_Pythia  No, the R5 5625U is not better than the i7-1165G7, at least not for Sims 4.  The limiting factor for in-game performance is the GPU, both in this case and in general, and unless these laptops also have dedicated graphics cards, that means the Vega 7 graphics chip and the Xe Graphics G7 96 EUs, respectively.  The Xe chip is maybe 15-20% faster in gaming, although it does depend somewhat on the game and the resolution.  Still, that's enough of a difference to say the Xe graphics chip is definitively faster.

    If either laptop has a discrete graphcis card, that would almost certainly be faster than either integrated graphics chip.  Feel free to link the product pages for each laptop if you'd like me to take a look.

    @puzzlezaddict@ynk225,

    apologies - while comparing the two of them, I mixed them up. puzzlezaddict is correct and has given quite a bit more context as well.

  • @ynk225  The price isn't terrible, but you could get the same performance for significantly less.  The graphics chip in a Ryzen 7 5700U is about equal to the one in an i7-1165G7; the difference is a few percentage points in either direction, depending on the game.  And laptops with a 5700U start at a lower price, for example this one:

    https://www.technopolis.bg/en/Laptops/%D0%9B%D0%B0%D0%BF%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BFLENOVO-IdeaPad-1-15ALC7-82R400FYBM/p/503241

    Looking over this site, there are a lot of options with a 5700U, and some with the newer R7 7730U, which has the same graphics chip.  They should all have roughly the same performance in Sims 4, so you could choose based on whatever other factors matter to you.

    For Sims 4 itself, you won't need more than 500 GB storage either.  If you want more space for other data, that's a good reason to get a laptop with a terabyte of storage; I'm just saying you don't need to spend the extra money for Sims 4 itself.

    Additionally, you could get a gaming laptop for the same price as the HP laptop you've linked:

    https://www.technopolis.bg/en/Laptops/%D0%93%D0%B5%D0%B9%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B3-%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%BF%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BFLENOVO-IdeaPadGAMING-3-15ACH6-82K20284BM/p/502997

    The RTX 2050 is not a great graphics card, but it's significantly faster than the integrated graphics chips in the other laptops we've talked about: maybe twice as fast in gaming on average, although there's a lot of variation from one game to the next.  So if you're willing to get a gaming laptop and want the best performance possible, this is a better option.  But if you don't need to play on ultra graphics settings and are fine with high settings, one of the laptops with a 5700U or i7-1165G7 will be perfectly fine.
