Re: Can I transfer my sims dlc to my steam account?

@jarzzie You can't transfer them so they show up on your steam account but the steam version is capable of recognizing your DLC from Origin so you see it when you play on Steam.

You do need to re-buy the base game on Steam if you want to be able to have packs on steam. If you do that, install the steam version, connect your account and then you should see all content you have bought on Steam & Origin.

Origin will still need to run in the background.

@crinrict @I was able to get the steam sims 4 base game. I already have it upload and I already link my account but what I realized it when I started playing, it turned on and it says I had every of my dlc. After that I went to create another household and realized my dlc items in origin weren't in CAS and they weren't in build mode either. I don't know what to do and I tried emailing the support but they just repeated the same thing even though the question was different. What should I do? I uninstalled 5x to see if it's a glitch but it's still not working. I even deleted my origin and steam and reinstall but it wasn't working either

@jarzzie When I last tried it worked fine for me. Not sure if something has changed.

Where is your DLC installed ? In the Origin or Steam installation folder ? AFAIR, for me everything was re-downloaded to the Steam one. Maybe they changed stuff.

Don't have much time today but can do some re-testing tomorrow.

EDIT: Moved this post to tech and merged another similar thread into it. Guess I def need to do some testing to see if something is wrong.

@BeardedEchelon Do you get an error downloading or what happens in detail for you ?

  • If I buy DLC on the Steam platform, can I access it through my Origin platform? I have a base game, a few EP and GP on Origin, but wanted to get a new DLC from Steam.

@crinrict I have it downloaded for both since my dlc at origin won't download at steam, And the dlc I got from steam will only install in steam and not origin even though I connected/linked my account. Though somehow i manage to download the dlc from steam to my origin platform but when I opened the app it says it was downloaded but somehow my other dlc from the origin platform disappeared from build mode and cas.

@crinrict Yeah I just realized no I don't, I tried playing in origin but I only had the items and gameplay that came with the dlc that I bought in origin. When I tried playing in sims 4 ins steam, it also only had the dlc I got from steam. I had both sims 4 game since it didn't merge into one base game. Is it supposed to be merge into 1 base game or am I supposed to have two. I tried only downloading one base game but if I didn't download the other one it would not put the dlc i got on the other game

    @jarzzie

My Origin shows both versions (NVM the Play Pro thing) but you should have both the Sims 4 and the Sims 4 Steam. DLC from Origin should work with the Steam version but DLC on Steam does not work with the Origin Version.

When I tested this when it first came out, it would always launch the version I've installed last. So if I installed Steam last, it launched the Steam version even if I clicked on the Origin Version (you can tell by turning off Steam, then starting the game. If Steam starts, it's the Steam version, if not, it's the Origin Version).

I will do some testing tomorrow to see if anything changed

@crinrict Oh okay, I'll try again to see if it's working. Since last time I launched it at origin version but it only had the dlc items I got from origin even though the dlc from steam was downloaded. I also tried to launched at steam but it also didn't have the dlc I have In origin. If it's still okay for you and all your dlc items are still there then I'll try a few more times to check the problem and if the problems continues then I'll just refund it since I feel like it might be my computer that's a problem.

@jarzzie So I did some testing. Had Origin installed and just installed the steam version through Steam on top of that. Started the game through steam .. no DLC .. went into Origin and redownloaded some of the packs for testing. They do show up on both of my tiles to re-download.

    After that they showed up.

Did you ever redownload them through Origin after installing Steam ?

@crinrict yeah, I started it on steam and origin. I did redownload the dlc on origin again. And your right the tile did show up but I played a game my dlc gameplay and items were still gone. It's weird, is your steam dlc working fine?

@crinrict The dlc I got from origin doesn't work on steam and the dlc I got from steam doesn't work on origin. Sorry to confuse you.

@jarzzie Yeah, Steam DLC doesn't work on Origin, that's how it is. If you have Steam DLC, you need to run the Steam Version.

At this point, I think the best you can do is the following

    1. Backup your user files found in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
    2. Uninstall both Origin and Steam version with all DLC (so that there's nothing Sims 4 left on your computer)
    3. Reinstall the Steam Version with all it's content, then start it on Steam.
    4. Your Origin DLC will be missing, so after starting the game, close it down and start Origin (Steam still running).
    5. Go to the tile of the Steam Game on Origin (if you have that, otherwise just use the Sims 4 one on Origin) and start installing the DLC you have on Origin.
    6. After that is done, start the game through Steam.

    7. If you now have your packs, move the backups of your user folder back in case your saves don't show up anymore.

For me, the packs I installed (one Content from Steam, 3 from Origin) showed up in my game.
