Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Failed to Launch Game

For the past few days, my game hasn't loaded and this is the above error I'm seeing! I've tried everything and still nothing is changing! I can't believe ea is making me turn into some tech guru trying to figure out the problem with their own game! All the happened after their forced update I wanted nothing to do with! Do something!!!

I have been trying to launch the sims 4 for days now. It keeps popping up with the same message and I am honestly getting so tired of dealing with it. I just want to play, but I'm having to become a tech guru to even hope it might work. I have already tried:

    Clearing the EA App's cache
    Forcing it to update
    Restarting my computer 5 times
    Checking my Antivirus

I do have CC but the warning specifically says "on OUR end" so that should not be the issue. Someone please help, I just want to play the game.

Hello, im having a persistent issue with The Sims 4 on EA App.Wwen i try to launch the game, i get the message:An error on our end caused the launch fail.Try again a little later.

This has been happening for several days now.

  • chinnyi honestly_rae_ the_oreo_cosplay Stfanigennova2  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • Stfanigennova2  Most of your custom content is probably fine, and most mods are likely either fine or have updated versions.  So test your files to see what's not working, and remove or update those, and keep the rest.

Alright, I did what you said, and the game is now running. However, my saves are not loaded; what is the next step?

I removed all of my cc, save files and tray files from the ts4 game file thinking my game would work and start a "new blank copy" but I still have the issue... (i also restarted the EA App multiple times and repaired my game) idk what to do i simply can't play because it refuses to launch

  • the_oreo_cosplay  If you want to use your mods or custom content going forward, test those in the new Sims 4 folder, in batches, to see what works and what doesn't.  Despite the error message, this issue is often caused by mods or cc.

Once you've sorted through those files, you can move over the contents of the saves and Tray (saved households and builds) folders, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those, plus Options.ini if you don't want to redo your in-game settings.  The rest can be discarded.

onhkqshdnzhh  It's the responsibility of mod and cc creators to keep their products compatible with the game, not the other way around.  Responsible creators know this and update their content.  So look for updates to whatever you want to keep using.

mary112510 Amanda_MMT  Please try the clean folder I suggested earlier in the thread, and if that doesn't help, post a dxdiag.  This error can also be caused by a system issue.

  • Amanda_MMT  Your dxdiag doesn't have any Windows error reports, which is odd.  But you should be able to find that info in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

I'd actually like the last few, unless they're all the same, in which case you can say "I see three of these" or whatever the case may be and just post the one.

Please also check your antivirus for recent Sims 4-related actions, and allow the game if necessary.

Its not the mods, i tried launching it with no Mods, empty tray files, empty saves and nothing, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game so a brand new copy with no CC but it still won't launch 😪

I managed to get it working thanks to another user, In Windows, search for your "controlled folder access" and turn it OFF. It's in Windows Security under Ransomware protection. it just worked for me after days of trying 😅

Is there not a contact for EA? I mean some of us are not tech support and we should not have to do all this extra work just to play Sims. I have seen alot of people do everything and it still is not working. When does EA step up and fix their issues? I was ready to buy an expansion pack but I don't think I will spend anymore money on Sims if EA can't step up and do something

  • BellaandMaxandMe  This error has become so generic that it's not helpful anymore.  A bad mod is the most common cause, but there are plenty of others.  So far, I've seen these:

    • bad mods or custom content
    • antivirus blocking the game
    • OneDrive getting in the way
    • an old graphics driver
    • other undetermined issues with the user account, solved with a new Windows account

I also have one report that disabling Game Mode and Game Bar helped.  For other games, a Windows beta build is one cause, although I don't know whether it's affected Sims 4.  Point is, I always start with mods because that's the single most likely culprit and because it's easy to test without them.  But if that doesn't help, I look for other causes.

chillyw316  If you want to contact EA customer support, the link is at the bottom of the page.  But I don't think it's an account issue, and EA support is not computer support, so there's only so much they can do.
