Re: Deleted the documents folder and can't get it back.

@Dareacop

Sorry but this can not be undone.
If you deleted whole The Sims4 folder there is no way to recover it. If you have uploaded something to the Gallery - houses, families it is still there and you can download it.
The game created a new virgin game folder as it should. Start a new game and play.
Next time move The Sim 4 folder to the desktop instead delete it. In this way, you can paste your saves and library folders into the new game folder and will lose nothing.

I don't work for EA

The thing is I can't even get to a start menu, the game opens and then cuts straight to black and then exits.

Move the TS4 folder what you have now to the desktop. Then fix the game in Origin.
    Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "repair game"
Then try to launch the game. Let the game create a new, clean TS4 folder.

I have tried that, my game just won't create the files needed for it. I am going to install the Sims 4 onto my laptop to get the folders to see if it works. If I can get it working, I'll upload the folder onto Drive or something similar. Don't know why I didn't think of it in the first place.

What does it mean "the game does not want to create the necessary files?"
Can not you launch the game?
What happens when you click on the game icon or in Origin on "play"
If that's the case, then it's not because of missing files.
The game will create a new folder always even if you throw the entire Electronic Arts folder into the trash if the computer meets the requirements of the game and installation files in the Program Files folder are not broken.
But these files are not broken because you could fix the game in Origin without any problem.
So the only question is - what happens to your computer?

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?
To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

I have Attached My system info here, now the questions.

"Can not you launch the game?" - Well if you mean by not being able to open it through the play or desktop button, then I am able to launch the game

"What happens when you click on the game icon or in Origin on play" - When I click the icon, the game opens, goes to a greyish black screen, then closes. I have set Nvidia to tell me my FPS on games and it comes up showing it, so the game does open.

Why do do you have Radeonsettings exe running? You do not have a Radeon card you need to uninstall it.

You have several crashes with DirectX this may be because of a conflict between RadeonSettings.exe and the Nvidia drivers.

If removing everything related to Radeon does not fix it then run SFC /scannow

I have removed as much as possible of the radeon stuff (Just to be safe I also removed everything Amd), But my game still continues to crash and not create the files. I did have a go at the sfc /scannow command in command Prompt with Admin privileges, and It came back saying "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

How do I fix this? It said to do an online repair to check the CBS Log, but I don't get how this works.

Do you think there might be app data somewhere telling the game that It doesn't need to recreate the files anymore?

I did get the sims 4 running on my laptop but it isn't the best at running games, so I hope I can get this working.

  • Now that this thread is old, and still no answer about this has come up, I have decided to just stick to using the Sims 4 on my Laptop. I have moved all of my mods to it, and it is working well for saying it's portable.

I'm sorry to those that may have the same problem as me, and came here looking for a answer. Maybe one of the above replies have the answer for you. Who know?

I haven't accepted any of the replies as an answer, as well, I still couldn't get mine game working. I'm not saying they don't know, it's probably just rare for something like this to happen, so no one knows.

Trust me, if I find out a fix for this I'll come back here to share it with everyone.

Thank you everyone for your time.

Sorry to hear it but you need to understand that your problem is related to broken Windows system in your computer - not to the game - and better help you will get on Microsoft forum where you can find computers specialist.from Microsoft.

    Try this.

    • Hit Windows key and X.
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered.
    • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please let us know.
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. > ENTER.
(I know you already did that, but do it again please.)
    • Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.
