Re: sims 4 can't run save files?

@ratnapping  Try experimenting in a clean game folder, to remove any complicating factors.  Move your existing Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop; when you launch the game, a new folder will be spawned.  Don't add anything to this folder yet.  Start a new save—no need to spend much time on it, since this is just for testing—and try out CAS, live mode, and Build/Buy.  Save, quit, launch the game again, and see whether you can get back into this save.  Let me know either way.

    @puzzlezaddict just had a go.

    new save file worked fine but the game crashed right before the start menu when trying to reopen.

    @ratnapping  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  Do you have your system set to automatically sync the contents of Documents with cloud storage  (OneDrive or iCloud)?  If so, please disable the syncing and test.

    @puzzlezaddictI'm not signed in to one drive so its not synced anyway I don't think.

    I'm trying a complete reinstall of the game in origin so fingers crossed

  • Hey

    I have the exact same problem. Game works fine with a new save until i exit the game and try to run it again. Game crashes before main menu, when i take out the save folder, games runs normal until I close it and try to run it again. Did reinstalling the game work for you? Or does anyone else have a solution?

    @PolishBelgian  Do you have OneDrive set to automatically sync the contents of Documents with cloud storage?  If so, please disable  that function, or disable OneDrive entirely and test.  If that doesn't help, move the entire Electronic Arts folder out of Documents, launch the game, create a new save, look around to make sure it's working, save, quit, and try to reload.  If it works, you can move your existing saves and other content from your old Sims 4 folder inside the Electronic Arts folder to your new one.

    If that doesn't help either, please disable your antivirus/firewall, just long enough to test.  If that's the issue, you can set exceptions for Origin.exe and TS4_x64.exe.

    @puzzlezaddict Hey, so I tried everything you suggested to me. I turned off OneDrive, it wasn't even on in the first place. I also turned off my antivirus, still doesn't work but still i've put TS4_x64.exe and Origin.exe into the exceptions, that didn't help either. I let my game creat a new Electronic Arts folder and everything was fine, until i put my save folder back in. A few minutes ago I tried the Legacy Edition and it worked fine but I still got a pop-up that I had to run the 64-bit version because the game might be unstable. So right now i'm reinstalling the game and I hope that works! Thanks for all the help though!
