Re: Sims 4 not running

Back to not working. When I went offline in origin and attempted to play it asked me to enter my email / pw and validate the game - I did so, and went no further with playing. When attempting to play it again the acti background process shows up - but no TS4 process.

Side note - upon trying to duplicate this process it no longer asks me to enter my information to validate the game when in offline mode, it just replicates the initial problem of not starting.

Thanks. It's worth double checking your whitelists for your security software, just in case any could be blocking activationui.

Is there now a reliability monitor crash for ts4.exe (from the Safe Mode startup)?

Sorry for interjecting, but I use VPN, does that contribute to my "Unable to connect to EA servers to activate Sims 4?"

Unfortunately not. There's one for skype, and that's it.

I'll keep playing with whitelists but honestly I'm running out of options to try here. ☹️

    Indeed, it's a tricky one.

Just to try a very slight alteration on the previous version, can you try a Safe Mode w/ networking boot again, and this time after the failed ts4 launch swap Origin to Offline Mode, then restart as normal and try starting again, keeping Origin in offine mode.

Also, just in case there's some unexpected network issue, do you have any alternate machines on the network that you can install the game to as a test?

Hycinthius, VPNs can contribute to networking issues, certainly. It's worth disabling any active ones if you're having connection issues.

Edit: I saw your other thread now. I can't find release info for China, but I'll keep looking. It sounds like, in the absence of a set date, it's defaulted to the European Nations 2 date.

"Central Asia" conspicuously isn't mentioning China. http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/INFO-The-Sims-4-release-schedule/m-p/3354431

Update - I installed on my laptop, same OS (win 8.1 x64) same account (using a microsoft account to log in) - game works just fine, no issues at all. I'm using AVG on both the PC and the laptop.

Attempted once more on the PC in safe mode, can't get it running.

The only thing I can think of that's different between my two machines is that my PC has recently been formatted (maybe missing an essential DLL?)

Or maybe it's a registry issue (My PC has many origin games installed, my laptop had none).

    Any other suggestions?

Laptop does have the same vpn, yes (not active on either machine atm)

I did use CCleaner while in chat with support (no effect)

I did not do this between installs

There are a few updates the laptop has that the PC doesn't, these include microsoft xna framework, and the C++ x64 (I have the x86)

Aside from that both have the exact same stuff installed.

I currently uninstalled origin & all my games - then will do a registry clean, and reinstall. Once I try that and see if it works I'll see if I'm missing updates some where (sfc indicates I'm fine) and HOPEFULLY something will work.

    @stargrace Heya,

As you are doing the reinstall anyway, it would be best if you do a clean boot once more prior to starting the installation. Additionally also check that your security software is turned off as well just to ensure that nothing is being blocked. Some of the usual suspects are summarized here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/

It might also be worth to ensure that User Account Control is enabled and set to notify: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ie/windows/what-are-user-account-control-settings#1TC=windows-8

Once all of that is done, go ahead with the download and installation of the Origin Client once more: https://www.origin.com/download

Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers,

    Nils

No luck with any of the above mentioned. Still won't run.
