The main causes would be:
A graphics card that doesn't meet the minimum specs. They can be found here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-4-system-requirements/A graphics card/chipset that doesn't have sufficiently updated graphics drivers: You can find info on updating your drivers here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/finding-devices-and-updating-drivers/
If you use a laptop, it's possible that your main graphics card is turning off and the laptop is using the low-power chipset when you try to play. Check your power/card settings to ensure this isn't happening.
As per lukejpittman's post, it's trying to launch in an invalid display mode. To get around this, open the Sims 4 panel in Origin, choose Game Properties and enter "-w" without quotes, into the box. Then the game should start in windowed mode. With the game open you can adjust your graphics settings to something more appropriate.

That's the problem though, according to www.systemrequirementslab.com I have the minimum requirements for Sims 4. My graphics card is the "AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series"
I download the AMD autodetect tool to make sure I am up to date on my drivers and I am.
I even tired the -w to get it into window mode and it still gives me this same error message.
Here's my specs if you need to see it again:

@lilxdemon Yep, your machine should easily play the game. Just to check for simple stuff, have you restarted your machine and repaired the game?
If so, for the next step try restarting with a Clean Boot, in case some 3rd party program is somehow interfering.

Thanks for the fast reply. The Clean Boot worked! Thank you so much, I guess i am going to have to find out now what was blocking it 🙂
