Sim prepares food then stops. Sim won't continue when I select cutting board

Hey! My sim starts to prepare food then stops.  I click the cutting board to continue making but the sim acts like there is a barrier.  There is plenty of counter space.  Help, please! Thank you!

    @LRR32793

    Are you using any mods or cc in your game? Try to remove them and see if the game works better.
    For example, move the mods folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to your Desktop and start the game.

Could be some cache left that is messing things up..

Try resetting your files to factory settings.

  • Make a backup; copy your The Sims 4-folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to an external drive or somewhere else on your computer, for example your desktop.
  • Rename the The Sims 4-folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to The Sims 4_backup
  • Start the game, make a new save, and see if the error is gone. 
    (The game will have created a new The Sims 4-folder in your documents, this is supposed to happen)

    • If yes, continue
    • If no, post a reply telling us the error is still there
  • Start putting folders back in the new The Sims 4-folder. Observe! After every file/folder, start the game and make sure it still works, before putting in the next one.
    • Options.ini - your game settings
    • Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
    • Screenshots
    • Custom music - if you have any
    • Tray - your library objects; like lots, rooms and sims
    • Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back

If putting back one of the folders was problematic and you did not work it out, please post a reply and we'll see if we can find what your problem is!

I tried this and it worked fine for the new "The Sims 4" folder, and it works fine for other families in my original game.  I think it's because I have an 8 member household ☚ī¸

    There's no bug with a new saved game, but I still have the problem with my original family ☚ī¸

    Might be something corrupt with the household/save. This can happen when you use mod, and has a chance of staying even with mods removed. One of the risks with mods sadly.
    You could try moving them to another house, just temporary, and see if it works in another kitchen.
    But there is a chance the save file might be corrupt ☚ī¸

    @LRR32793

    Well, you can add content that other people created to have in your game. So if you want recolours of objects, other traits for your sims, or maybe a new set of clothes, you can download it for free. I guess that's the advantage. The disadvantage is that they can break your game and cause problems :P
